Minutes of Annual Meeting

7/5/2006

Meeting called to order at 19:30, Cambridge Yacht Club,  Cambridge, MD

Roll call of fleets: 1 Potomac, 15 Oxford, 19 West River, Cooper River, 80 Skokie Lagoons.

Old Business: Discussion of weight rule.  450 lb. gross weight for modern boats.  At last year’s Internationals had a tie for first between classic boat at 430 lb. gross weight and a modern boat at 450 lb. gross weight.  Discussion of merits of differential boat weight.  Acknowledged that boat shapes are different and in certain conditions the modern hulls are faster.  Discussed advantages of having weight on the rail versus in the hull.  Also discussed impact on participation.  Agreed the higher weight limit makes it easier for the modern boat skippers to find crew.

Discussion on web site.  Noted delay in getting results posted.  Will look into options to spread the work load on maintaining the web site.

Treasurer’s Report:  Account balances.

Voted to approve minutes of 2005 Annual meeting, as posted at the class web site.

New Business:  Ed Lutz asked about Penguin hats.  He will look into getting a batch made.

Next year’s Internationals.  Based on the low turnout at this year’s event, different options were discussed.  After some deliberation, with some sentiment towards having it as a three day weekend event, a decision was made to combine the event with the Heritage regatta at Oxford, which is typically held on the last weekend in August,  which would be August 25 and 26, 2007.

Election of Officers:  Current slate renominated and unanimously elected.  Paul Hull, President, Jonathan Bartlett, Vice-President, John Jenkins, Secretary, Charles Krafft Treasurer.

A vote of thanks to Sandy McAllister, the Cambridge Yacht Club,  Paul Hull and the Eastern Shore Sailing Association, and PRO Tot O’Mara for their help in making this year’s internationals a success..

Meeting was adjourned around 20:45.
