Minutes of Annual Meeting

August 13, 2009

Meeting called to order at 4:16 PM by class president, Paul Hull.

 

Roll Call of fleets: 1 Potomac, 15 Oxford, 80 Skokie Lagoons

 

Treasurer – Report to follow

 

Secretary – no report

 

Executive Vice President – Jonathan Bartlett

No Penguin sails sold by North in the past 18 months.

 

Old Business

Region VI VP will be updated on web site;  Patrick Hilliard has replaced Jon Pegis.

 

Weight rule.  Chicago uses 2 water jugs.  Discussion on raising all up weight to 450 lbs. for all boats, classic and modern.  General discussion on this with various sentiments represented.  Rule will stay the same, 430 lbs all up for classic boats and 450 lbs all up for modern boats.

 

New Business

Patrick Hilliard  provided information on the Innovator boat building project.  He made one prototype boat and hopes to have a new boat ready in about 3 weeks.   He estimates that an introductory cost  would be about $6300.

Discussion on venue for next year’s Internationals.  Suggested sites included Chicago/Columbia Yacht Club, Milwaukee,

Columbus, Ohio – Hoover Reservoir  Best dates in July and August.  Would need to be done by noon Sunday.  Chain hotels within 10 to 15 minutes.

Erie, PA Presque Ile – Ed Lutz has contacts there.  Snipes are holding a championship there this year.
